Rhythm includes repetitive strong patterns of sound, words, or musical notes, and it applies to typography because order and consistency are more appealing to people than chaos or noise.

When we listen to music, there are deliberate pauses built in that separate sound from silence. The same effect applies to typography when combining letters, words, and blank spaces to reinforce letter rhythm. Unexpected gaps break the rhythm and flow of reading.

By understanding how rhythm works in typography, a text can be read quickly and easily.

The “Unique” concept:

Typografie is de kunst om letters en tekst zo te rangschikken dat de tekst leesbaar, duidelijk en visueel aantrekkelijk is voor de lezer. Typografie omvat letterstijl, uiterlijk en structuur, met als doel bepaalde emoties op te wekken en specifieke boodschappen over te brengen.

Goede typografie drukt de visuele hiërarchie uit en zet de toon door een goede structuur en vormen. Letters worden georganiseerd met ritme. 

Als je naar muziek luistert is er een patroon, dat beïnvloedt hoe je je voelt en orde schept. Dit patroon staat bekend als het ritme. Ritme omvat repetitieve sterke patronen van geluid, woorden of muzieknoten, en het is van toepassing op typografie omdat orde en consistentie prettiger zijn voor mensen dan chaos of ruis.

Wanneer we naar muziek luisteren zijn er opzettelijk pauzes ingebouwd die geluid van stilte scheiden. Hetzelfde effect geldt voor typografie bij het combineren van letters, woorden en lege ruimten om het letterritme te versterken. Onverwachte tussenruimtes breken het ritme en de flow van het lezen.
